Traditional spicy restaurant visited by locals and tourists alike. Good service, very cozy and spacious, and abundant dishes.abundant and delicious food.I don't recommend it. We went with high expectations, thinking we'd be eating at a typical Arequipa restaurant. After a half-hour wait, we were served in a hurry.
We ordered a cold spicy sauce that was inedible. It was super salty and deep-fried. The stuffed rocoto (hot pepper) wasn't anything special.
Also, many of the dishes on the menu weren't available that day.
The only thing we enjoyed a little more was the frozen cheese.We came with the idea of eating authentic, typical dishes from a picanteria.
We were disappointed...we ordered a super piquante between two of us. The dish was substantial and served quickly. This speed reflected the quality of the food, which was reheated and tasteless.It's better to add 10 or 20 soles to a meal in a small, unusual restaurant than to eat here. You'll get better service in terms of taste.Furthermore, the waitresses aren't the most pleasant. After receiving the menus, barely 3 minutes later they come and ask you what you've chosen. Of course, they only steer you toward the most expensive dishes.I don't recommend it.After a long time, I returned to the restaurant and was truly surprised, especially by the food.
The staff's attention and atmosphere have improved since the last time I went a couple of years ago (the spaces are clean, tidy, and well-decorated, complemented by the excellent service from the waiters and staff in general). However, the food has significantly declined in terms of quality and flavor. Some dishes were bland, while others were very salty or unbalanced (I had a cheese single with too much cheese and too much salt, so it didn't balance well with the other ingredients, while the pork loin broth was bland and the meat tough).
Honestly, I wouldn't go to this restaurant again because for the price they charge, the food should be much better, especially considering all the options available in the area and Arequipa in general where you can find better prepared and tastier food, while also offering a good atmosphere, service, and better prices.
I hope they can change this situation, because if this is the impression we're giving tourists about Arequipa's gastronomy, then we're leaving a very bad impression.The marinade could be a little more robust, but it's delicious.The service is A1.It has it all, from the attentive waiters to the friendly atmosphere, with every possible choice. Perhaps the suckling pig wasn't very seasoned, and the crust was sticky instead of crispy, but we really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere.
