Amazing experience,, What a Journey into the local cultures. Out of this world présentation of all the dishes (definitely worth a Michelin starred restaurant in Europe on that side and for some of the dishes for the taste as well)
The 10 courses menu is a messComing from the Basque Country, we've tried several Michelin-starred restaurants in our area, and I must say the tasting menu lives up to many of them. The cuisine is different, bold, local yet fused, and the service is excellent. We truly connected perfectly with what the chef wanted to convey in each dish.Wow! We stumbled upon this place and were blown away! We shared the 10 course tasting menu and loved every bite! The presentation was unique and beautiful and we loved how the history of Peruvian food and stories were shared throughout the meal. Highly recommend!We had the 9-course menu. It was very interesting and delicious, a culinary journey with wine pairings for four of the nine courses. One point deducted for the service because we had to ask for the wine twice, but otherwise highly recommended.We opted for the tasting menu. The restaurant and the ambiance were wonderful. The food was very sweet, even from the first course, and remained so throughout. I had to stop after the fourth course because I was completely overwhelmed by the sweetness. The drinks and wine pairings also reflected the "sweetness." The bill included the entire meal.We stumbled upon this place by chance. It was an absolute treat with excellent service. Local Peruvian food of the highest quality.
We opted for the surprise menu, and every course was a highlight.I enjoyed the experience very much! Love the presentation, the taste, the story behind the dishes. Seeing the negative comments did make me doubt my tastebud a bit lmao. I do think the dishes are very delicious and savoury (maybe except the last dessert. I don’t quite understand it. But I wouldn’t say it’s bad) I love love love the ceviche and the hot and cold soup. Also the price is cheap (compared to similar restaurants in Europe and North America), I don’t know how people are giving 1 star.However, there are indeed some cons:
- IT IS SO HOT. Where’s the air con amigo??? I wanna leave the restaurant early not because the food was bad, but because it’s too hot.- Language barrier: the servers were nice and friendly, but their English were not the best (and the music was too loud), so I only got 50% of the stories.- The pairing menu: The wine was okay. Personally I think you don’t need to go with the pairing menu.- Seating: the seatings weren’t the most comfortable.- The meat dishes were okayishA very good and enjoyable experience. It's literally clandestine. You enter through a small door, and as you walk into the restaurant, you're transported to a very beautiful setting.
The food is delicious and the presentation is unique and innovative.
The staff is friendly and explains everything about the food.
A wonderful experience. 👍 It's definitely a must-visit every time I visit Arequipa. 😋
