Elcielo Restaurant Bogotá

If you are used to fine dining or want to have an exceptional evening, move on! A big disappointment... The setting is pleasant, the food is good without being exceptional, the experiences interesting. However, the service is not at all up to par for this type of establishment (and for a bill of 400 euros for 2 people...). The waitress was visibly in a hurry to get home: the dishes followed one after the other, she sometimes brought us a new dish without us even having finished the previous one. We had ordered a cocktail for the aperitif and then a bottle of wine: the pre-starters were served before the drinks, the wine was brought to us with the starter and our cocktail with the main course... The timing was completely inappropriate, not highlighting the food served. My husband asked the waitress to slow down but she persisted. It was cold in the room, the waiters noticed it but offered no solution (knowing that the weather is almost always the same in Bogotá, it's a constant problem...). We were surprised to be ordered to order only two petits fours from a selection of four, for the price it's very cheap (the waiter insisted twice, maybe he wanted to take them home since we were the last customers of the day...). In 1.5 hours, the meal with 16 experiences was already finished. This is not enough to enjoy the evening (it takes more like 3 hours in top international restaurants for this type of menu). The waitress imposed her tip without asking us (which is very rare in Colombia). She then disappeared, we never saw her again. We left the place without being escorted home. In short, a potentially interesting experience was completely ruined by deplorable service, not at all up to the level expected for this type of restaurant. I recommend that the owner train his staff in high-end hospitality. You can't charge luxury establishment prices with the service of a neighborhood restaurant. Quality comes at a price, but price demands quality!

Lovely romantic dinner at El Cielo. Very interesting experience, well thought through, interesting tastes accompanied by very attentive staff. It was an excellent end to our honeymoon.

Pleasant

A great place.It's not a place to eat until you're stuffed, which is usually the biggest criticism. This isn't a restaurant that has that purpose.It's a celebration of national cuisine as well as a showcase of techniques and storytelling that work together to demonstrate what can be achieved with ingenuity and knowledge.Exquisite flavors very evocative of national cuisine; the menu options are very interesting, well thought out, and executed.Of course, not all the dishes are stars, but none of them are out of place, none of them feel out of place. It's impossible to compare it with any other place in Bogotá, at least; the sky is a story we know, told in a very, very different way.I will definitely return to try a new menu.
