The best cuisine in Peru is truly Japanese. From Nikkei ceviche to any other dish. You will enjoy it.
I visited Kintaro alone and had mixed feelings about the experience. There were two main issues that really affected my enjoyment: 1. I ordered two dishes for myself. Normally in restaurants, they bring one first, and after you finish, the second one follows. Not here! Both dishes arrived at the same time, which meant I had to rush through one while the other was already getting cold. Not ideal at all – especially for a place that positions itself as a quality Japanese restaurant. 2. I ordered the beef udon noodles. The noodles were fine, but the beef was a disaster – extremely tough and chewy. If you’re someone who enjoys spending a long time chewing your meat, maybe this is your spot. Otherwise, I’d recommend skipping the beef entirely.I really wanted to like this place, and maybe other dishes are better, but based on this experience, I won’t be coming back.
Great sushi, drinks, and service
Best sushis of my life. I came back twice and I miss it already. Highly recommend the sushis with the beef and chimichurri on top.
The food was excellent. The ramen was very flavorful.
Tucked away in the heart of Cusco, Kintaro Japanese Restaurant is a true culinary gem that seamlessly blends authenticity with warmth. From the moment we walked in, the service stood out—attentive without being intrusive, and always accompanied by a genuine smile. The sushi rolls were nothing short of sensational—each bite bursting with flavor and crafted with incredible precision. I highly recommend the house special rolls, which balance creativity and freshness to perfection. The tiraditos, with their delicate fusion of Japanese technique and Peruvian zest, were a standout dish—light, flavorful, and beautifully presented.Their cocktails also deserve special mention. Whether you’re craving something classic or with a twist, the bartenders at Kintaro know how to stir up a drink that perfectly complements the menu.If you’re in Cusco and in the mood for a vibrant, top-tier Japanese dining experience, Kintaro is a must-visit. An unforgettable spot where quality, flavor, and service truly shine.
Excellent Asian food with simple but elegant Japanese recipes. Restaurant itself is hidden down an alley and then up a set of stairs. Cozy atmosphere with modern design; various Asian books to read on bookshelf. Ordered ramen, cucumber sushi, and gyoza. Pleasingly slurpable broth for ramen, gyoza was crimped correctly, and sushi rolled tight with sticky rice. Reasonably priced with right sized portions.
