Great restaurant, the flavors here are unique. My family and I ate at this restaurant three times while in Medellin. The service here was also great.
Sexy Spot
We went to Máximo Marea Mediterránea looking for a different gastronomic experience, but we left lamenting that such a well-located restaurant, with a visually appealing concept and a decent wine bar, is falling so far short of what its image suggests.First, the setting was already a clue: a completely empty restaurant at lunchtime in the middle of the weekend—sadly, the effect of the economic crisis in Colombia is being felt. But we decided to give it a chance. We ordered a beef carpaccio as a starter, which, honestly, was the only redeeming feature of the evening: well-presented, well-cut, and well-balanced seasoning. But what came next was a disappointment. The grilled octopus, usually a star dish on any Mediterranean menu (and with a price that demands it), arrived dry, flavorless, and poorly accompanied. A good grilled octopus should have a firm yet juicy texture, having been previously cooked to perfection and then seared on the grill with olive oil and coarse salt. This one, on the other hand, seemed to have been soullessly boiled and then reheated. The worst part: the sliced potatoes that accompanied it were gelatinous and undercooked, almost inedible.Trying to salvage the evening, we ordered frutti di mare. And it was worse: four shrimp, a few tiny octopus tentacles, and a mess that didn't even rise to the level of a basic seafood soup. The dish was embarrassing, both in terms of quantity and quality. We also ordered two bottles of wine: a sparkling wine and a Pinot Grigio. They were good, but nothing justifies the price, which even exceeds the average for similar restaurants. And that's the most painful part: it's a place that has potential, with a well-decorated space, a concept that could work, and friendly service... but the culinary execution and the imbalance between price, quality, and portions ruin everything. That's why I'm leaving this review with two stars: one for the carpaccio, one for the service. But I wouldn't go back, at least not until they substantially improve the offering. If you're willing to pay for what's not worth it, you might like this place for its location. If not, keep looking.
Máximo Marea Mediterránea is an upscale restaurant with a stylish atmosphere and live music that adds a great touch to the dining experience. The staff were very attentive, and the service overall was excellent. We ordered a variety of dishes like carpaccio, seafood cream pasta, entraña with salad, salmon with risotto, and truffle fries. The food was well-prepared and flavorful, though a bit on the salty side possibly due to local Colombian taste preferences.I’d rate it 4.5 stars if I could, but since only whole stars are allowed, I’m giving it 4 out of 5. Definitely a recommended spot for a nice night out in Medellín.
It offers a carefully prepared menu that can be preferred with peace of mind for those who do not consume pork. The venue is both stylish and simple; it offers an elite experience with its peaceful atmosphere. The staff is measured and professional, only being there for you when necessary and leaving you a comfort zone.
This place is a true gastronomic paradise that I would visit every day if I could. The experience is exceptional, with a culinary offering that delights the senses and a wine selection that is, without a doubt, one of the best in Medellín. Each visit is an opportunity to discover new flavors and enjoy a welcoming atmosphere. It is undoubtedly a must-visit destination for any lover of good food and wine in the city.
Delicious food👌🏻 only that in my opinion the portions were very small, especially for the price, especially the risottos, the complimentary bread 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Terrible service, we wanted to make a reservation and the person serving was rude.
