The restaurant is beautiful. It's very well located, well decorated, with a modern atmosphere and an open kitchen. Background music highlights Minas Gerais culture. The service is impeccable. Del and João were kind, polite, and very attentive. The menu emphasizes Minas Gerais's uniqueness, from the appetizers to the extensive cachaça selection. We were thrilled. As a courtesy, the restaurant offered a slice of cheese bread with okra foam. In practice, it tasted like nothing. The wine list, with a good variety, started at R$150.00. For starters, we ordered the esgargô mineiro, which, in essence, consisted of individually served gizzards with a little broth and a side of microfoccacia. The idea is actually good, but paying R$65.00 to eat gizzards with bread without a tasty sauce is definitely not worth the price, regardless of the creativity and presentation. Especially when there's no distinctive flavor. Next, we ordered a kind of rump bonbon bruschetta with a cassava base. The menu describes numerous processes and flavors. In practice, it's a processed and fried cassava base with raw rump and a touch of pequi. We paid R$52.00 for two pieces. Once again, the perceived value was very different from the price charged. Lots of processes, lots of presentation, and little flavor. For main courses, we ordered the Wellington Mineiro, made with chicken and taro, and a glazed duck with rice and its rapa. The menu description was wonderful, but, again, all the art and creativity failed to deliver the flavor. The duck rice was completely overwhelmed by the cloves. There's a description of the spices on the menu. However, we expected an Indian touch or a spicy Minas Gerais spice, but we received a sweet clove, without meaning to. The duck ham was good and interesting, as was the duck, but the excess cloves ruined the dish, making it cloying. Furthermore, there was excessive pepper, which the service team reported as a spicy factor. But in reality, it was pepper. The Wellington arrived beautifully presented, with taro purée and a sauce described as okra supreme. However, the sauce was a minimal broth, which left the dish dry. And, once again, the flavor was disappointing. A layer of garlic overpowered the entire dish, overpowering all other flavors. The prices of the dishes? Around R$150.00. In the end, to our surprise, the service charge was 15%, without disclosing this percentage on the bill. The conclusion, then, is: They added value to the preparation and presentation but didn't bring any perceived value to the flavors. Thus, it feels like an expensive restaurant, not worth the price. The strong flavors overwhelmed and overwhelmed the flavors of the Minas Gerais ingredients. And when it came time to charge, they went all out, overcharging and charging a price for service not charged in Belo Horizonte. The restaurant is well-known, but it's definitely not worth the price, and we won't be returning. For good, tasty Minas Gerais food, there are countless more affordable places in the city that offer the same high-quality ingredients, but offer the flavors we crave from Minas Gerais cuisine.
I had the opportunity to try Palato's shared dishes, which offer the option of choosing a protein (beef, pork or chicken) and any side dish you want. Since it was Saturday, I opted for the always reliable roast chicken, which was simply delicious. Even the breast, which is usually less appreciated, was succulent. The side dishes also deserve a mention. The Caesar salad was simple but very tasty. The creamy rice, needless to say, was incredible. To drink, we shared beers and, later, a variation of the caipirinha. Unfortunately, there was no room for dessert, but the creme brulee looked delicious. The service is top-notch and perfectly matches the sophisticated atmosphere of the restaurant. It was a complete experience! Oh, and about the bill, I've paid much more for much less. I thought it was excellent value for money. I definitely plan on going back.
I was embarrassed by the unisex bathroom. The woman in the room was too. The food was meager, considering the price we paid. I didn't find any of the dishes surprising, especially considering the exorbitant prices. The service was excellent.
Let's start by talking about the place: it's wonderful. The service is impeccable and the organization is admirable, it really makes you feel like you're in a haute cuisine restaurant. As for the food, it is indeed delicious and creative, but I confess that I expected a little more, considering the restaurant's reputation. The flavors, although very good, I've found them in other establishments also focused on haute cuisine, but with more affordable prices and, I dare say, with equally striking flavors. Even so, I recommend visiting for the overall experience and for the creative proposal of valuing Minas Gerais cuisine with a very attractive menu.
Perfect dining experience, as expected from the restaurant's references.A special point that needs to be adjusted would be the waiter's insistence on forcing us to order a drink and walking around the table tirelessly asking if we liked the food. I understand that it is difficult to please everyone and this is far from being a criticism, but some customers, like me, want to savor the moment and not just the dish. I hadn't even read the first page of the menu and he came to me twice asking about the drink (which I had already warned him about, "not for now, I'll read the menu first"). After the appetizer and main courses came, the same thing happened: I was chewing and he was around me checking to see if I liked it. Measure the excess of insecure questions and the experience will be delicate and just right.
I paid R$146.00 for a filet serenado that was pure mushiness. Inedible. I complained to the waiter, and he simply apologized. I feel like I was deceived. I want my money back. We won't be back.
Excessive price for nothing particularly exceptional. Only one vegetarian main course option. I went on a Saturday and ordered the à la carte menu, and the flavors really didn't make me want to return. When I saw the bill, I realized it didn't add up.
I recently visited the restaurant. My chosen dish was the rigatoni with short rib ragu and creamed corn. It was very tasty, and I really liked the other aspects of the place, such as the ambiance and service.
