A classic

Exquisite, excellent, 100% recommended.

A fine restaurant opened in 1947. Although it's in the center of Caracas, it has plenty of parking. The food was excellent, tasty, and well presented. The staff was very attentive. We'll be back. It's worth a visit, and we're sure to return.

We arrived and the staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was old-fashioned, just like a Spanish bar. We ordered paella and garlic bread to start. They brought us mineral water, and the garlic bread had cheese on it. The paella was divine, the ice-cold beer, divine! We again ordered a portion of garlic bread without cheese (keep this in mind when ordering). For dessert, we had a Santiago cake with ice cream. It had a strange taste to it when we started; I think it was too much almond essence. When we received the bill, they charged us for the mineral water we didn't order (I thought it was on the house). I found it unpleasant that they didn't ask. We also heard one of the waiters (an older gentleman) tell the people at our table who had just arrived, "Don't expect too much from these people, they'll just order normal dishes." This comment was also in poor taste, and even worse when made in front of other customers.

Unfortunately, I must edit my review of this restaurant. I returned for my birthday, and despite our reservation and advance notice, it didn't go well. I ordered a seafood fideuá and had to ask for salt and pepper to give it a flavor. My husband ordered a suckling pig, and it was rubbery, the texture was unpleasant, even the casabe seemed reheated. Honestly, it wasn't the best day. The hardest part of running a good restaurant is maintaining quality.
