Restaurante Palafita

Negative points: food, service, location, price, and lack of honesty. Lemon juice was overflowing with sugar. We ordered moqueca, which they didn't have, fish stew, and they sent us a very expensive, bad fish, not at all fresh, unsalted, tasteless, and should have been frozen. Slow service. The waiter disappeared when we needed him. We had to ask him three times to bring us a mere glass. He only wrote down our order at the end to make payment, and he brought us items we hadn't even ordered. The place is old, ugly, and in disrepair. Being on stilts, they should have been more careful with the flooring, but some of it is visibly rotten and potentially dangerous to walk on. I heard a woman had an accident last week because a cutting board broke while she was walking. Can you imagine? They don't care about the customer at all. Absurd prices. A steak and potato appetizer costs 90 reais. What kind of world are they in? A snack that costs the same as a main entree. Not even the most upscale restaurants in Belém are like this. Horrible. We ordered crab cakes, which were more like farofa than crab. And finally: dishonesty. The waiter wrote down items we didn't order. I ended up paying without knowing because they don't have a receipt, they don't give invoices, they just give the price and we have to pay. A terrible experience, never again.Note: It was Sunday, practically empty. And the service took a long time.

Dirty place. Strange entrance. Expensive food and disorganized. Prices you'd be better off paying at other nearby restaurants. However, don't go.

Nice place to sit and drink on a balmy evening. Food was ordinary.
