We really really enjoyed our visit at Raíz. We booked only a couple hours before which was surprising as the quality of the restaurant is one that should requires reservations much in advance. The service was excellent—all the dishes were explained well and our server paced our meal for us in a great way. There is a somewhat calm atmosphere in the restaurant which has the kitchen in the back of the dining room. The food was really good starting with the complementary mini-empanada. Very hard to pick favorites but we loved the elotes and the tacos. Of course the desserts were the highlight of the meal and were truly truly impressive. I would definitely recommend visiting Raiz in Mexico City whether you’re visiting or not.
Too pretentious for what it offers The place has all the appearance of being a gourmet experience, but the reality is quite different. The food is quite average—nothing memorable in flavor—and the prices definitely don't match the quality. It's your typical tourist spot, with lots of fanfare and presentation, but no substance. A disappointment if you're looking for good food for the price you pay.
The most underrated gem of a restaurant in Mexico right now. Went with our two vegetarian friends, one of which we were celebrating. The atmosphere is very cozy and private, we didn’t even notice the other patrons in the restaurant. The service was beyond attentive and kind. This restaurant was the highlight of our trip. Thank you, Raíz for an incredible night.
It was obvious from the start that much care and excellence were put into every aspect of our evening there. The service was impeccable, the food was absolutely top notch. So was the ambiance and the creativity that went into everything as well. One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had
We chose this place to celebrate a friend's birthday. We ordered everything a la carte. The pacing of the meal was entirely off. Without asking, they served every appetizer by round and we ordered 4 appetizers. Some of us ordered several tacos as the main dish whereas some ordered only the entree without any tacos. Again without checking with us, they served tacos first and then entrees. We spent 3+ hours at this place and everyone felt tired. The server didn't take any notes for our orders and they messed up a few dishes. We would appreciate it if he could note everything down instead of trying to impress the customers with "good" memory. The food itself is okay, nothing too memorable. Unique ingredients but the taste and combination of flavors are just above average. If this is the only fine dining you're going to try in Mexico City, I'd recommend skipping it. Given the experience we had, I don't think this place will earn any Michelin stars to be honest.
Absolutely loved our time at Raiz. We did the a la carte menu option for a party of 6 and were able to try so many options. Food was delicious. Our server Alan was friendly and attentive. We would recommend!
We enjoyed the tasting menu and the food was really nicely presented, with some great dishes, but others lacked a deeper level of flavour, and probably not as good as other tasting menus of similar price. The service was sometimes a little unpolished.
We went yesterday at 6pm and the guy at the front desk asked us if we had a reservation, the place was practically empty. He gave us the table he wanted. The dishes were quite small in portion, the normal flavor was not bad but it does not justify the price either.❌️ Bad drinks. It is known that the price is high when the quality of the dish, service and location justify it but in this case they DO NOT justify it.Conclusion I would NOT return if you can save yourself the trouble. Don't go.
